Selling Ebooks - 4 Ebook Publishing Myths

Many people wonder how they could earn an income by writing and selling their own ebooks. And that's not such a surprise because right now the Internet is all abuzz with ebook publishing news . There are new e-book readers coming out every month , new ebook web sites and online libraries popping up everywhere , and traditional publishers increasing the number of ebooks they have available .

What does this mean for web businesses, and especially authors ? Well, ebooks have almost certainly become one of the best ways to make money writing. But in the midst of this booming industry there are also a number of ebook publishing myths going around. Let's take a look at four of these .

Myth #1. To Write an E-book is Difficult

It's not . It's certainly not any more difficult than writing a traditional book and in most cases it can be far easier. Don't forget that an average ebook has fewer pages than the average book in traditional print. There are lots of best-selling ebooks in the range of 25 to 100 pages, and it is surely a lot easier to write 70 pages than to fill up 230 pages!

Myth #2. Getting People to Promote Your E-book Will be Difficult

It is not. After your ebook is completed and published, you should consider selling it through marketplaces like ClickBank and PayDotCom . As well as enabling you to take credit card payments without having a merchant account , these marketplaces usually have thousands of affiliates ready and chomping at the bit to promote good ebooks.

Myth #3.  It’s Better to 'Go It Alone'

It is not . Self-publishing is a fabulous way to go , but after you write an e-book and have it published you should enlist as much help as possible in marketing it.

Partnering with related sites is just one example of how you can do this.

Myth #4. Once Your Ebook Is Written, Just Sit Back , Relax and Watch for the Checks to Roll In

Not a good idea . You should always be working on your next ebook . Without a doubt interest in your first ebook is going to decline after a while . It could take years, but it might only be months or weeks.

By always having new ebooks under development you should be able to have at least several good sellers on the market at any point in time .

Think about these myths.

Next think about your desire to be a successful book author .

Now start writing ebooks. Write. Publish. Sell.
