If you are a website flipping professional, or a newbie, there is no doubt that you have heard of the biggest and most popular marketplace for buying and selling sites. It is called Flippa.com. Buyers have endless opportunity to bid on websites in practically every niche. At the same time, sellers can auction off their websites on Flippa in hopes that they will get a buyer from the thousands who visit the site daily. But how do you market your website?
While this may all sound very promising for a seller, fact is, there are just too many sites for sale than there are actual buyers. This makes for a very competitive marketplace for the seller. This therefore begs the important question, how do you get a potential buyer to take an interest in your listing? Sure, you might have researched some advice on how to make your listing different from the rest, but perhaps you have overlooked strategies which might help direct more traffic to your listing. This strategy is advertising your auction page outside of Flippa.
Stretching out your promotional efforts, you can reach others who have their own websites, but are unfamiliar with Flippa. Also, you can go for those who are solely interested in the website niche you created.
So, how do you do it? One is promoting your auction listing on your own website. As the old adage goes, "charity begins at home." Advertising on your website, is a very easy yet effective way to market your auctions. In fact, if you make it known to visitors that the site is for sale, the buyer may be more interested in owning it because he is already a regular reader or follower.
Another way of finding potential buyers is to put in a relevant comment on related-niche blogs and websites. For instance, if your site covers fitness and health, you could visit similar blogs, then give a comment along with a link to your auction. You can even try contacting that website owner, and volunteer to guest post in exchange for being able to leave a link to your Flippa listing.
Be part of marketing forums which are related to your niche. Flippa is a well-known marketplace, but it isn’t the sole venue out there. Warrior Forum and Digital Point are two of the ideal places where internet marketers and website flippers can be found. Any one of the individuals there may be in search of a website to buy.
You can also look for forums that are related to your site. For example, car owners are actively involved in forums that pertain to their car model, looking for maintenance tips or giving them. So, marketing a website that relates to your own subject is an effective way to get your listing known.
That said, always let the site owner and/or forum participants know that you intend to leave a link to your listing after your relevant response. Not all will welcome this move, but it is better to be frank upfront, so you don't seem sneaky. Also, if you aren't honest, your remark could be flagged or marked as spam. Worse yet, you could be banned altogether from joining any of these forums again and when flipping websites, you need to widen you network and not cut ties.
